Provide sort options for albums under a Artist

Currently innuOS displays the albums from an Artist based on the Release Date of the album, to provide a chronological view of the albums from an Artist. However, in the case of compilations, it could be useful to offer an alphabetical sort as well.
It's our view that we don't want the UI too crowded with options that will confuse people. The question here for all of you to comment would be if you would:

1. Keep the albums under an artist sorted by the album's release date
2. Keep the albums under an artist sorted alphabetically
3. Provide the option (with eventually other sort options?)

2 for classical only would be my preferred choice, as 1 works well for most of the other music I listen to.

Same in Sense Qobuz Artist page (not my library). Album sorted by original release date is essential when using SENSE for searching on Qobuz and you select an Artist, actual view if so confused and not useful at all. Very important also to show a few TAG symbols on cover image or as text to immediately see Year of album original release, Studio vs Live album, compilation or new release, LP vs EP, dynamic range. Like actual badge HD/DSD for instance. This kind of lack unfortunately makes Roon for most people preferable, unlike it sounds worst than Sense as sound quality.

i think option 1 works best for me. It's how Discogs lists albums for an artist but i don't see why we can't choose how they are listed, so option 3 as well.

Number 3 please, or 2 with the option of using original release date. With all the remastering being done, the new release date gives less meaning.

When I look at albums with Johann Sebastian Bach as composer, I have no idea in which order the albums are sorted: it is not alphabetical and does not seem to be by artist either. According to the above, I guess it is release date, but this is not so relevant for a view by composer. So I have over 100 albums showing up in essentially random order... Not practical. Please add sorting options: ideally I could chose by Album name, by conductor, by Album Artist, date etc

3. Albums first Release date as the online option

I find sorting by release date first is most helpful for me to choose, which album of this artist I want to put onto the playlist. So I vote for alternative 1.

Filters on the Artists view would allow to narrow results to relevant ones without cluttering the interface. This allows a mix of browsing to look at artists, composers, etc, and then narrow the results by genre, resolution, etc

Hi Nuno, I really like the idea of sorting/ordering an Artist's/Band's albums inline (left to right) by "Release Date" as I believe you stated (and, Yes, I would vote UP for that as native behavior); however, I do not see that as native behavior now. Please see attached image example, whereby Led Zeppelin II (released in October, 1969) is on the left of Led Zeppelin I (released in January, 1969). Perhaps the date granularity needs to be the "complete release date" (dd/mm/yyyy) for correct permutation behavior. Moreover in the image below, the 2 left-most Led Zeppelin compilation albums in the image were both released far after both LZ 1 and LZ 2, and yet they both appear inline before both LZ 1 and LZ 2 as well (perhaps not as the desired behavior intended).

Not sure if that feedback is helpful, but just offering an v2.0.5 observation for your team's consideration. Thank you.

I agree. Having at least the month as well as the year of release allows much better management of the database. I did this obsessively when I used JRiver; it would be great to be able to do it again!

For classical music, the chronological view is not necessarily the most relevant. This however would be resolved when filters can be applies to Artists view, or the Album view can be further refined by Artist/Composer/Conductor...
